A First Class Township in Western PA
Although this Western PA community was established in 1912 as Mount Lebanon, the community's official name was ultimately changed to "Mt. Lebanon" in 1975.
At the time of its establishment, Mount Lebanon was touted as a “First Class Township,” under state law. It was formed using part of Scott Township.
The community got its name from the homeland of the settlers, who noted similarities between the two lands.
Although the community had strong roots in farming, it evolved with the arrival of streetcar lines. After that happened, the community became a streetcar suburb of Pittsburgh.
Excellent Business Opportunities for Residents
The community also has a rather strong central business district known as Uptown Mt. Lebanon. This district is distinctive in its own right, with several coffee shops, galleries, pizzerias, and clothing boutiques.
